Project Manager/English-French Translator

Since 2008, the Asiatis translation agency, located in Montreal’s dynamic Plateau neighbourhood, has offered translation services in all languages to a wide range of clients in a variety of fields: marketing, finance, legal, technical, etc. The agency is seeking to hire a full-time in-house project manager/translator to manage translation projects, from handling incoming requests to preparing quotes and delivering final translations. The chosen candidate will also support the in-house translation team by translating documents from English to French, as well as revising and proofreading documents in French. Duties:

  • Project management
    • Handle incoming client requests by phone and email
    • Prepare quotes
    • Send projects to freelance or in-house translators
    • Ensure project follow-up, quality control and delivery
    • Enter data into our project management system
    • Answer client questions
    • Manage certified translation projects (translation of official documents by certified translators)
  • Translation/revision
    • English-French translation of different types of texts in various fields: marketing, fashion, general, etc.
    • Proofread translations done by internal and external translators, to ensure the highest quality standards are met and compliance with client style guides and instructions
    • Monolingual revision of texts in French (grammar, spelling, punctuation, terminology)
    • Stylistic editing
    • An asset, but not mandatory: capable of proofreading texts and translations in English

Requirements:

  • University degree in translation required
  • Professional experience in translation required
  • Must be bilingual in English and French (spoken/written)
  • Motivated and conscientious, ready to get involved and find solutions
  • Sense of detail, organization and initiative
  • Good writing style, capable of suggesting improvements when revising
  • Capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines
  • Capable of working in a team and independently
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of translation tools (Trados, GDT, Termium) and Antidote, an asset

Salary

$15 per hour, 40 hours a week

Administrative/Accounting Assistant

The agency is seeking to hire a full-time administrative/accounting assistant whose main duties will be handling incoming calls, mail and email. The chosen candidate will also support the project management team by assisting with the management of QuickBooks accounting and payments, as well as requests from private individuals. Duties:

  • Handle incoming phone calls and redirect them to the appropriate person
  • Provide information on services by phone, email and in-person
  • Greet walk-in clients, scan documents for translation and handle cash transactions
  • Receive, sort and post mail
  • File and validate invoices
  • Prepare and make payments (by cheque and via PayPal)
  • Prepare and send client invoices (using QuickBooks)
  • Assist with project management of certified translations of official documents for private individuals (providing quotations, monitoring project progress and performing quality assurance)
  • Prepare and print translations (hard copies)
  • Other related tasks based on project managers’ needs

Requirements:

  • University degree (or equivalent) in a related field
