Brief History of the Telugu Language

Telugu (local name: tĕlugu / తెలుగు) is the most widely spoken of the Dravidian languages and is native to India. In fact, it is the second most widely spoken language in India after Hindi. Seventy million people speak Telugu as a first language, primarily in India, as well as in Indian communities in Malaysia, Mauritius, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Fiji, North America, the United Kingdom and France. It is the official language of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
